Blackhold chess IRC Contact About Hybrid Nodes guifi.net
This supernode system basically consists of a new type of facility. So far all supernodes guifi were formed in the beginning by linksys routers and router plates later board with mini-pci radios. These systems mvideo have a "paste" or difficulty, which is what we have to walk fingering pigtails, copper cables that connect antennas that provide the connection and plates where we manage all routing, usually with openwrt, dd-wrt router or OS in each connection there was also a loss of signal, besides these connections are sometimes a little tricky.
The "new" system consists of a router (RB750 or similar) to be connected to wifi antennas already have radios and signal transmitting antennas into a single device. The signal transmitting antennas are soldered directly to the board of these devices, mvideo so we remove the pigtails while signal loss on these connections.
With this system, we can put as many teams as independent ethernets have. It can be extended to more connections through a switch; but does have some problems so surely will be out of the standard configurations guifi.net (have to investigate the possibility of using vlans instead of using the names of the interfaces, remember that the name wlanN taken into account when to make graphs of the antenna). The connection between these devices mvideo and the router, is done through a more protected from radio interference RJ-45 cable, handy, easy to grimpar etc.
In this post I will try to explain the basic configuration mvideo of these devices to make them work with concorde, open, free and neutral world's largest mvideo wireless network, guifi.net. This explanation also applies to other similar devices like the RB1000 or RB1100. My thanks to locke and knoppix, who have had the patience mvideo to teach me how this device, jmoles for reviewing the article :)
I will focus mainly on the configuration of a RB750G, which is exactly the same as a RB750, the difference between them is in the processing speed and the speed of the ethernet ports. The RB750 uses a 400 Mhz processor ethernets five 100 Mbps while the RB750G is clocked at 680MHz and five mouths gigaethernet (1000 Mbps). mvideo Router will use to decide what we will consider two factors. The first radio equipment we use in "theory" can make radio links more than 100 Mbps but carry a 100 Mbps ethernet interface. This limitation to the antennas that we use can only work at 100Mbps should because for a 1Gbps network cable are needed 8 cables ethernet cable, mvideo but we are using 4 antennas to feed via POE, 4 cables are used for data transfer and the remaining mvideo 4 for food, for this we called adapters POE that make this division and usually come with the antenna (in this case we are talking ubiquiti type antennas). The second factor is that in a router data stream is analyzed by the processor. A slower processor mvideo can reduce mvideo the transmission rate if the interfaces are very fast.
So against better faster process and if we'll have resolved 1Gbps interfaces mvideo possible upload speed of liaison teams reduced cost increase. The price difference between the two is not very high.
The RB750G is a mikrotik device company and internally works with an operating system mvideo of the same company called Router OS. This system is managed with other proprietary software available only for windows called winbox. For Linux users, to comment that this program works properly with the latest versions of wine, in the latter case may lose some functionality like drag configuration mvideo files directly from the program interface, but this can be solved by accessing the router via ftp. The other is that sometimes the connection by MAC is not going very fine, but the latest versions'm just having problems, everything is a matter of having it updated mvideo :)
In the same way that we can update the router software management, we can also update the version of RouterOS RB. To do this we must bear in mind that these devices have firmware on the one hand and on the other the RouterOS operating mvideo system. This update can be performed mvideo easily from the interface of winbox.
Come for the mess! in this graph we see the available devices BCNRossello208 supernode, it Ubiquiti Nanostation M5 involve 2, one for plugging in and Carmel, another JulesVerne5
